Lynnwood, WA Drug & Alcohol Rehab Resource Guide

Drug and alcohol addiction recovery resources are plentiful in Lynnwood, Washington, as well as in the surrounding cities. The issue that many people face is they simply do not know they are there. As a result, they either get caught in the cycle of addiction, or they continue to use because they believe they have no other choice.

Over the years, 12-Step groups have proven to be extremely effective at offering support to those who need it. Organizations like Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous have helped millions of people recover from their addictions. Families face unique challenges of their own when someone they love has a substance abuse problem. They usually do not realize the type of help that is available for them either.

For these reasons, we have created this helpful drug and alcohol addiction recovery resource guide for Lynnwood. We have no affiliation with anyone listed here, but only intend to provide this information as a way to help those who need it the most.

What is Alcoholics Anonymous?

Alcoholics Anonymous was started in 1935 by two men who were both alcoholics. They felt that there should be some type of support group for people who wanted to stop drinking. AA was born as a result.

Information on Alcoholics Anonymous

AA follows the 12 Steps of recovery. People attend weekly meetings, during which, they share about their experiences. It is a wonderful place to get support.

What is Narcotics Anonymous?

Narcotics Anonymous is much like AA. The only difference is that they focus primarily on people with drug addictions. But, they do allow alcoholics to attend their meetings if they prefer to, rather than going to AA.

Information on Narcotics Anonymous

NA is filled with a lot of helpful and supportive people. The meetings are usually about an hour and a half long, and members attend on a weekly basis.

There are also many Lynnwood NA meetings, as well as those happening in the surrounding cities. The following is a complete list.

What is Alateen?

Alateen is a support group that is specifically for teens and young people. It is a part of Al-Anon, so it is for any young person with an addicted loved one.
This type of support is so important for teenagers, and even for young adults. They often feel like they have nowhere to turn, and no one to talk to. This gives them exactly what they need.

12-Step Alternatives

The 12 Steps are helpful for many people. However, they don’t work for everyone. Some people are hesitant to attend AA or NA because they’re turned off by the spiritual discussions. This is understandable. After all, the Twelve Steps famously ask addicts to “Commit Yourself to a Higher Power.”

For some agnostic folks, this type of language sounds too religious.

Luckily, there are plenty of alternatives. Groups like SMART Recovery, Secular Organizations for Sobriety, and Moderation Management offer a different path to sobriety. They offer the same type of community and guidance as the Twelve Steps but take a completely non-spiritual approach.

If you’re looking to join one of these rehab groups, check out one of the meetings listed below:

SMART Recovery does away with the Twelve Steps in favor of their own 4-Point Program. This is a science-based approach to overcoming bad habits. In SMART, you’ll learn how to manage cravings, cope with stress, and develop healthier ways of living.

Drug & Alcohol Detox Programs Near Lynnwood, WA

There are many drug detox programs in the Lynnwood area. Each of these facilities help addicts to overcome the physical side effects of addiction. They monitor addicts to ensure their safety and comfort as they go through withdrawals.

Remember, drug withdrawals are unpleasant. When you try to quit drinking or using drugs, your body may react poorly. You may experience a range of symptoms including nausea, anxiety, and shakes.

Detox programs can alleviate some of these symptoms. While they can’t eliminate symptoms entirely, doctors can administer medications and employ techniques to help you through the process.

Some addicts are hesitant to check into detox. This is usually because they think they can quit on their own. While some people can use the cold turkey method, it doesn’t always work. Many addicts relapse once the withdrawal symptoms kick in.

By checking into a professional detox program, you’ll eliminate the temptation to relapse. You’ll also have access to doctors and addiction specialists who will help you through the process.

Drug and alcohol detox programs vary in length. Some last less than a week while others take longer than a month. Ultimately, it’s up to the patient and their doctors.

The severity of the addict’s habit is the determining factor. After all, it takes some people longer to complete withdrawals. Some people are able to flush the toxins out of their system in a few days, and other people take longer.

There are a few things that can impact the withdrawal timeline. These include:

Drug of choice: Every drug has a different half-life. This is the amount of time it takes the body to metabolize the chemicals. Addicts who use drugs with long half-lives (such as heroin) take longer to detox than addicts who use drugs with short half-lives (such as cocaine).

Physical health: Healthy people metabolize chemicals faster than unhealthy ones. If you have a healthy, fast-acting liver, it’s able to flush the toxins out at a rapid speed. If you have any liver damage, on the other hand, it could prolong withdrawal time.

Age: Unfortunately, older folks tend to have unhealthy livers, especially if they’ve been using drugs for many years. Although not always the case, younger people usually have an easier time with detox.

Nature of habit: Certain types of addictions are easier to detox from. For example, binge drinkers are typically accustomed to drinking only a few nights per week. Therefore, their body isn’t as dependent on alcohol. Chronic drinkers, however, may have to taper off slowly before they can fully detox.

What Happens After Detox?

Once you finish withdrawing, it’s recommended to head straight to rehab. There, you can seek further addiction treatment.

Luckily, Lynnwood is full of rehab programs and detox programs. So no matter where you go through withdrawals, there’s probably a rehab center right around the corner. Some facilities even offer both services, so you don’t even have to leave the building!

If you choose not to attend rehab, you should get into AA or NA as soon as you return from detox. That way, you’ll have a community to support you through the early days of sobriety.

The Lynnwood area is home to many drug rehab centers. These facilities provide therapy, counseling, and other services for recovering addicts. They are some of the most valuable addiction resources in the region.

But what is drug rehab?

Well, it’s basically a place where addicts can go to transition into a sober lifestyle. After all, addiction doesn’t end when you complete detox. If you want to stay clean, you’ll have to learn to deal with stress and cravings. This proves to be difficult for many.

In a detox program, you’ll attend individual therapy sessions, group support meetings, educational classes, and more. Each of these resources will help to prepare you for life as a sober person. They’ll teach you how to manage cravings, how to cope with stress, and how to overcome any trauma that’s driving your addiction.

Not everyone thinks they need rehab. But, the ones who take advantage of this resource are far more equipped to avoid relapsing later on.

Drug rehabilitation programs come in many forms. There are two primary types in the Lynnwood area:

Inpatient rehab: These are residential programs. They offer housing where addicts stay while they get sober. The patient lives with other patients for 4-6 weeks and attends treatment during the daytime. At night, they exercise, read, and plan for their future as a sober person.

This type of rehab is beneficial in that it eliminates the temptation to relapse. Rehab facilities are drug-free, so the addict has no access to drugs or alcohol. Inpatient programs offer the patient time and space to focus on recovery.

Outpatient rehab: These programs are non-residential. The patient does not live in the facility itself. Instead, they live at home and attend treatment during the day. Depending on the program, they may commit to 30+ hours of treatment each week. Outpatient offers the same benefits as inpatient, but with the added benefit of being able to return home at night.

This type of rehab works best for parents, students, and professionals who have responsibilities to attend to outside of the treatment center. It allows people to live their normal lives while being treated. However, it also requires the addict to abstain from relapsing while they’re off-campus.

Ultimately, you should assess your own lifestyle and needs before you choose a program.
