The Northpoint Difference

Northpoint Washington is characterized by the highly individual nature of our program and the wide range of available drug treatments that can be adapted to match the requirements of each case. From the very first day, specialized evaluations will allow doctors, nurses, and counselors to cater an individual treatment plan that includes a combination of medical intervention, holistic treatments, and psychological therapy.

Another important component of drug rehab at Northpoint is a series of integrated activities in the local community that allow patients to put their progress to the test in the real world. Through community assimilation activities, each patient comes face-to-face with the triggers and cravings of daily life and can learn to overcome the challenges that await during a lifetime of recovery.

What's Your Day One?

Does this sound like the right program for you? Although achieving long-term sobriety will not be easy or quick, we can give you everything you need to begin a long and successful life in addiction recovery. If you're ready to begin the recovery journey, your Day One at Northpoint Washington will look something like this:

    Check In

When you arrive at the facility, you will begin with the basics - paperwork, medical forms, and payment processes. This step is necessary to get your case incorporated into the system.

    Greet and Tour

Once the boring administrative stuff is out of the way, you will be introduced to a greeter - another patient who is farther along in the program. The greeter will show you to your rooms, give you a tour of the facilities, and help you get settled in. At this point, you can also ask questions and familiarize yourself with basic schedules and expectations.

    Health Assessments

Full physical, biosocial, and psychiatric examinations will be necessary before your support team can begin creating your individualized rehabilitation program. After these exams are complete, the team of doctors, nurses, and counselors at Northpoint will build an initial treatment and medication plan for your case and go over it with you.

    Discharge Plan

Since outpatient care and home transition is so important to maintaining long-term sobriety, your discharge plan will be in discussion from Day One. As you continue through the treatment program, the discharge plan will be adjusted and perfected according to your progress and individual needs.

Phase One: Drug Detox

Drug detox can last anywhere from five days to three weeks (or more) depending on your substance of choice. This phase will vary greatly from one individual to another, but it is safe to say that drug withdrawal is an unpleasant experience for everyone.

Drug withdrawal is your body's process of eradicating its physical dependence to illicit substances. The withdrawal side effects can range widely from flu-like symptoms and vomiting to depression, anxiety, and even seizures. One advantage of completing detox in an inpatient facility like Northpoint is medical intervention during detox.

As drug withdrawal symptoms set in, a team of doctors and nurses will oversee the process and prescribe a combination of prescription medicines and therapeutic activities to help soothe and alleviate the withdrawal symptoms. These medications may address both the physical and emotional aspects of withdrawal. For example, opioid users may be prescribed Opioid Replacement Therapy (ORT) prescriptions while stimulant users may better benefit from antidepressants.

In addition to medical intervention, some therapeutic activities that may prove helpful during detox are:

  • Meditation practices
  • Art therapy
  • Yoga
  • Gym workouts with a personal trainer

Phase Two: Drug Rehabilitation

While in-depth drug rehab treatment may not be possible during the first days of detox, you will be transitioned into rehabilitation as withdrawal symptoms dissipate. When you are ready, rehab will consist of a rigorous 56-hour per week treatment schedule.

Drug rehab at Northpoint includes a wide variety of treatments from advanced dual-diagnosis and neurofeedback therapy to holistic treatments and classic counseling. Your treatment schedule will vary from day to day as your counseling team analyzes your personal battle with addiction and determines the best methods for you to overcome it. Some drug treatments you'll have access to at our facility include:

  • Local community activities and assimilation
  • One-on-one counseling
  • Group therapy
  • Strength-based therapy
  • Educational instruction
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Dialectical behavior therapy
  • Mindfulness and meditation
  • Bibliotherapy (therapeutic storytelling)
  • Art therapy
  • Dual-diagnosis treatment (the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness and substance use disorder simultaneously)
  • Neurofeedback therapy

Phase Three: Outpatient Treatment

Your discharge program is key to establishing a liberated sober lifestyle. Since Day One, your support team has been working with you to create an individualized discharge plan. Depending on your case, you may be assigned any of the following outpatient treatment schedules:

  • OT: Standard outpatient therapy will require a few hours per week of continued therapy on-site as you return home and begin transitioning back into a normal lifestyle.
  • IOT: An intensive outpatient program involves a slightly more rigorous approach with 12 hours or more of treatment each week while you live at home.
  • PHP: Partial hospitalization allows you to continue to spend up to six hours per day, five days per week in the facility receiving drug treatment therapy. You will still spend nights and weekends at home as you transition into a sober lifestyle more slowly.

Eventually outpatient treatment will end and it will be time for you to use the self-understanding and addiction management skills you learned in rehab to build a new life in recovery. Northpoint Washington will recommend a variety of local support groups and counseling services in your area so that you can continue receiving the support you need throughout the challenges of daily life.
