How to Get Help for Addiction in Camas, WA

Addiction Resources in Camas, Washington

Clark County has the third-highest overdose rate in Washington State. If you are dealing with a drug or alcohol addiction, it’s very important to get help.

There are many detox and rehab programs around Camas, Washington. There are also dozens of 12-step support groups. But, too few addicts actually know about these resources. So, the area loses far more people to overdoses than it should.

According to recent data, nearly 100 Clark County residents died from an accidental overdose in 2017. This does not include the number of people who suffered from alcohol poisoning or died in impaired driving accidents that year. It also doesn’t include those who faced non-fatal injuries as a result of an overdose.

Either way, it’s clear that residents need assistance. If you’re struggling with an addiction problem, it’s important to reach out for support.

In this article, we’ll discuss the places you can go to get help for your addiction. The article discusses all of the addiction resources around Camas.

Hopefully, it helps you get on the road to recovery.

Drug and Alcohol Detox in Camas, WA

Drug detox centers are among the most valuable addiction resources in Camas. These treatment centers help addicts to get the drugs out of their system.

Outside of a detox facility, this process is very difficult. An addict who uses drugs for many years goes through withdrawal symptoms when they try to quit. Sometimes, these symptoms are so severely painful that they prevent the addict from successfully detoxing.

Addicts who check into a medical detox facility have the privilege of withdrawing under the supervision of medical professionals. These doctors and specialists work to ease their withdrawal symptoms. That way, the process is a lot safer and less painful.

If you’re committed to getting sober, you should consider checking into a detox program. This could be your best bet at getting clean without relapsing.

Don’t let the cost of detox deter you from getting clean. Click here to see if your insurance provider covers treatment costs.

Camas is also home to some of the best rehab programs in Washington State. These facilities help addicts to transition from addiction to sobriety. They do this by providing therapy, counseling, and other services for recovering drug addicts.

Some programs, like Northpoint Washington, are inpatient rehabs. These programs are residential. In other words, patients check into rehab and live there for a few weeks after they detox. This gives them time and space to focus on moving forward with their lives.

While not everyone has the time to check into inpatient rehab, it’s very beneficial for those who do. In these programs, addicts have access to a number of therapists that help to prepare them for life as a sober person.

If you want to go to rehab but don’t have the time for an inpatient program, an outpatient program might work better for you. In these programs, you live at home but go to the facility every few days for therapy and counseling.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous is a worldwide support group for people who struggle with alcohol addiction. The group holds meetings where alcoholics get together to talk about their condition. These meetings are free. They’re open to the public. And, they take place in almost every city in America.

For many alcoholics, this is one of the most valuable recovery resources. It provides them with a compassionate, supportive group with whom they can talk about their lives. This group helps each other to overcome the trials and tribulations of living a sober lifestyle. Throughout its 75-year history, the group has supported thousands of addicts into sobriety.

AA members all work through the Twelve Steps. The Steps are a system that is supposed to help people get sober. Throughout this process, people learn how to stop focusing so much on themselves. Instead, they start to turn their attention toward the people around them.

If you can’t stop drinking, this could be a good program for you. Camas is home to some of the best AA meetings in Washington State.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous is another addiction support group. This group was created to help drug addicts overcome their destructive habits.

It’s open to addicts of all kinds: heroin addicts, crystal meth addicts, cocaine addicts, etc. There are many people in NA who are addicted to prescription pills and even some who are addicted to marijuana. The members of the group don’t care about a user’s drug preference. Instead, they just care about the addict’s desire to get sober.

NA is a similar structure to AA. It also revolves around the Twelve Step. Members work through the Steps together and attend meetings where they talk about their progress.

If you have a bad drug habit and you want to get clean, this group may be able to help you get there.

SMART Recovery

SMART Recovery is one of the most popular alternatives to AA and NA. This organization holds support groups. But, it does not employ the Twelve Steps.

Instead, SMART revolves around its own four-point program. Each point helps recovering addicts to live a healthier, more productive life.

One of the biggest reasons why this program is so successful is that it’s non-religious. There is no spiritual discussion in SMART Recovery meetings. This is one of the biggest ways that it differs from AA and NA. Those who are discomforted by the “higher power” aspect of the Twelve Steps enjoy this program.

There are a few SMART Recovery meetings in the Camas area. If you want to get sober but are opposed to 12-step groups, you may enjoy this program.

Here are a few meetings that take place in nearby towns:

Al-Anon

Al-Anon is a support program for people who are related to addicts. It’s open to family members, friends, and anyone else whose life is impacted by an addicted person’s habit.

Like other support groups, this organization holds free meetings where people go to talk. Family members get together to discuss how their loved one’s addiction is affecting their life and what they’re doing about it. The group offers advice and encourages each other in their attempts to live a happy, healthy lifestyle.

It’s technically a 12-step group. But, the Twelve Steps of Al-Anon don’t teach people to live sober. Instead, this system teaches them how to take control of their lives and let go of the things that they can’t change.

If you love an addict and their habit is impacting your life, this could be a good program for you.

The local Al-Anon community is warm and welcoming. Here’s a meeting that might work well for you:

Alateen

Alateen is an Al-Anon group designed for teenagers. There are also Alateen groups for children younger than 12, too.

Like Al-Anon, this organization holds free support meetings. Kids attend these meetings to meet others who have addicted parents or guardians. They open up about their feelings and give each other advice. A moderator sits in to guide the discussion and answer any questions that the children have.

According to government data, roughly 1 in 10 children lives in a household with an addict. That’s 7.5 million kids! If you know a young person whose life is affected by a family member’s addiction, it’s important to get them help and support.

There are a number of Alateen meetings in the region. Here are a few nearby:
