Electric City, Washington Addiction Resource Guide

Electric City, Washington Addiction Resource Guide

Drug and alcohol addiction are ongoing problems in the tiny city of Electric Hill.

If you suffer from either of these debilitating diseases, you need to find professional assistance before you try and conquer it. Trying to achieve sobriety on your own can be dangerous, and cause health complications and difficulties that can be avoided if you don't attend a structured program. It is also much more difficult to maintain sobriety without a solid foundation to draw upon, and fellow addicts or alcoholics to support you along the way.

To have the best chance of finding the right program and support resources for you personally, having the most options to choose from is helpful. This gives you the chance to compare resources, and define which are most compatible with your needs. We understand that finding all these resources can be difficult to do on your own. To help you in this quest, we put together our addiction resource guide for you to use. Having everything all in one place ensures that nothing important is overlooked.

Our Closest Outpatient Location:

Northpoint Washington is an inpatient facility designed to help those seeking relief from drugs or alcohol. We are located a little over 240 miles from Electric City in the city of Edmonds. Attending a detox and rehab program so far away has the advantage of not running into anyone you know, as well as a long distance from triggers and unhealthy situations. We can accommodate up to 22 people at the same time in our program, and make sure that each person receives the individualized care they need.

Support Groups and Recovery Meetings in Electric City, Washington

It can be scary leaving the comfort and stability of a rehab program. Temptations that were absent during the program return in full force, making it difficult to figure out how to handle them on your own. The best answer to that, of course, is to not handle them on your own, rather to seek help and assistance from others who know what you are going through. Friends and family members can only help so much, and are unable to see things completely from your perspective.

Outpatient support groups and recovery meetings are the best place to find the people that have this perspective, and are happily willing to share any knowledge they have gleaned. These meetings exist for both drug addicts and alcoholics, and even for friends and family members of those sufferers. Many of these programs revolve around faith, and surrender to a higher power. Others more recently available have science at their core.

Perhaps the best place to look for assistance in keeping away from alcohol is an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, or AA. For those who attended detox or rehab, these are likely familiar, considering that many structured rehabs have them as part of their program. This can make it extremely easy for an alcoholic to acclimate to the atmosphere in an AA meeting, which makes it much simpler to find the courage to share. While listening to other people's stories is definitely helpful, the real work is done when you present your own situation for others to provide feedback on.

Instead of going to an AA meeting, those addicted to any type of drugs will want to check out Narcotics Anonymous, or NA. NA meetings are beneficial in the same way AA meetings are, but concentrate solely on drug addiction instead. Their 12-step program is fine tuned so that each person who attends is likely to be able to find much in the way of help and advice. A commitment to regularly attending NA meetings is the best way to stay away from dangerous drugs in the long run.

Dealing with another person's alcoholism can be tough, even if the person is someone you love. The constant pressure to find a way to help without enabling can be challenging to deal with without any type of support system. Al-Anon provides this support system in a way very similar to how AA helps the alcoholics themselves. A 12-step program is also at their core, which both helps and gives insight into how the alcoholics are managing their addiction.

Nar Anon is the answer for those people who love a drug addict, and need ongoing help with their situation. Nar Anon understands this, and provides a discrete and welcoming setting for you to use to let all of your frustrations out. Since every other participant is in a similar situation, there is never any judgment about what you share. This feeling of acceptance and understanding can provide comfort during those times where it seems like the problems are never ending.

Al-Anon understands that it is very difficult for a child to open up in a setting with other adults present. As a result, Alateen was formed, with the sole goal of providing the same assistance adults get at Al-Anon to their younger counterparts. Kids meet together to talk about their concerns and feelings, while others in attendance can comment and provide feedback. This means that instead of packing things deep down inside, negative feelings and emotions are released in a harmless manner.

Not all recovering addicts and alcoholics consider faith a part of their life. Rather than try and make do with a 12-step program, you should check out SMART if you are one of these people. SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) is based solely on science, and provides proven scientific facts as the basis for their 4-step program. In addition to the many SMART meetings held around the country, there are also a wide variety of meetings and resources found on their website.
