Some people may be more at ease with the thought of attending Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings. Families can also get the support they need by going to Al-Anon and Alateen meetings.
All of these are wonderful addiction recovery resources, even though we are not affiliated with them. We have included them in our guide for the Omak area.
There are several AA meetings that take place in the Omak community every week. These meetings allow alcoholics to get the support they need from a group of their peers. That can be so helpful for someone who wants to stop drinking.
The best part about AA is that it has shown to be very effective, and millions of people all over the world have benefited from it. There are no fees for participating in meetings or to become a member.

There are several Omak area NA meeting that people can choose to attend. Like AA, NA meetings require no form of payment for either attending or becoming a member.
Narcotics Anonymous is there to help anyone with any type of addiction. Some alcoholics even prefer it over AA. They follow a 12-Step program that is slightly different, but it has been shown to be powerfully effective.

Northpoint Washington is our closest drug and alcohol treatment facility to the Omak area. It is located about four hours away by car, in Edmonds, Washington.
Our program offers drug rehab, alcohol treatment and much more.
Even though attending AA and/or NA meetings can be helpful, they may not be the best solutions for everyone. Some people need the professional treatment that only a drug and alcohol rehab can provide.
Recovering from an addiction – especially if it is the first time a person has ever gotten help – can be extremely difficult. There is always a high risk for a relapse; and this is even truer when the individual attempts to quit using without support. Anyone who relapses puts themselves at risk for an overdose, which could be fatal.
The risks are much lower when the addict or alcoholic gets professional treatment. They then have the opportunity to get help for both the physical and the psychological sides of the addiction.
A quality drug rehab is often necessary when a person is new to recovery. The best programs offer both detox and rehabilitation services to adequately address all of their patients’ needs.
For many types of drug addictions, detoxing is essential. It allows the patient to get help with their withdrawal symptoms so they can heal from the physical component of the substance abuse problem. Afterwards, moving on to a good drug rehab is critical as well. Otherwise, people are not very likely to deal with the psychological aspect, which could result in a quick relapse.
Alcoholics should strongly consider getting professional help for their addictions. When a person suffers with alcoholism, there is a process they need to go through to stop drinking safely.
Alcohol detox is necessary because of the danger that can accompany withdrawal symptoms. A person could easily be at risk for delirium tremens (DTs), and not even realize it. When left untreated, this condition can become fatal.
After the detoxification process has been completed, a quality rehabilitation program is needed to address the mental part of the addiction. Both of these steps may include an inpatient stay so the individual can get the help they really need.
While it might be challenging, help is available to assist people in recovering from their addictions. In the Omak area, there are plenty of addiction recovery resources for them to turn to for assistance.
