Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings are also available to provide support to those who need it. These organizations have been very helpful to millions of people all over the world. In addition, Al-Anon and Alateen are there to help families cope with the pain of having an addicted loved one.
We believe in the purposes of these programs, even though we are not affiliated with them in any way. We felt they should be included in this guide to the Forks area’s addiction recovery resources.
Alcoholics Anonymous is an organization that is focused on helping people stop drinking and recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for participation is to have the desire to stop using alcohol. There are no fees or dues for membership or meetings.
The Forks area offers AA meetings where people can come and get the help they need from a group of their peers.

Narcotics Anonymous was started in 1955 so that people with drug addictions had a support group that was similar to AA. They also focus on the 12 Steps of recovery, but with some slight variations in the wording. The groups meet every week, and the people often form close friendships with one another.
There are NA meetings in the Forks area for anyone who needs that type of support.

When a family member is an addict, nothing causes more strife at home. Their loved ones are often left to deal with the aftermath, and many of them do not know where to turn. More often than not, they end up enabling the individual, which only serves to drive them to use more and more.
Fortunately, Al-Anon and Alateen meetings are there to help anyone who needs them. They offer a tremendous amount of support, and they can also assist people in learning more about addiction. The Forks area offers meetings each week.

Our closest drug and alcohol treatment program to the Forks area is Northpoint Washington, which is located in Edmonds. It is about 3 and a half hours away by car. This is usually the perfect distance for someone who wants visits from family and friends, but who still wants their privacy.
We offer a drug rehab program that also includes alcohol treatment, detox services and much more.
As we mentioned earlier, some people need to go through drug and alcohol treatment in order to recover. Otherwise, they run the risk of suffering from a relapse, which could put them in danger of overdosing.
So many people attempt to quit using on their own when they really do not need to. They assume that they can handle all of the symptoms of withdrawal as long as they have enough willpower. The reality is that willpower does not have anything to do with addiction recovery.
Treating an addiction the right way means addressing both the physical and the mental sides of the issue. Getting help in the form of detox will help withdrawal symptoms, and rehab will help people sort through the issues that led to their substance abuse in the first place. So many people suffer from co-occurring disorders, and if they are undiagnosed, those symptoms will persist and they will go back to using in most cases.
It can be extremely difficult to take the first step and ask for help when you are an addict or an alcoholic. But once you do, everything in your life can change. So many people do not realize the healing that is in store for them, or the freedom that comes from no longer feeling compelled to use.
At Northpoint Washington, we want you to know that we understand how you feel and we are here to help you. We are determined to get you the type of help you need so you can recover.
