Everett, Washington Drug and Alcohol Rehab Options

Alcohol and drug rehab is there to help people who live in the Everett area. There are additional options for recovery as well, such as 12-Step meetings and various other forms of support. The reality is that going through detox and rehab is not for everyone. Some people need something more flexible that they can do on an outpatient basis.

Support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous can be life-changing for people who attend their meetings. In fact, millions of people all over the world have benefited from AA and NA meetings. Al-Anon and Alateen are also there to provide support to families.

We have no affiliation with these programs at all, but we believe in what they do for people with substance abuse problems. Peer support is very important, and many addicts credit AA and NA with helping them stay off drugs and alcohol. These group meetings – as well as other addiction recovery options – are there to help people who live in the Everett area.

Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center Options

To proactively deal with an addiction, seek help from a drug rehab or alcohol rehab center. There are many drug and alcohol rehab facilities in Everett, Washington. Each facility may specialize in a specific treatment or in a specific area.

For example, some rehab centers specialize in holistic treatment options. This may include treatments that incorporate Reiki, Tai Chi or even yoga. Other rehab facilities may specialize in specific behavioral therapies and modalities, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Regardless of what option you choose, you'll first need to decide the level of care that you need. Some rehab facilities will offer several options for you to choose from.

Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center Options

The two most common rehab treatment options in Everett include inpatient treatment and outpatient treatment. Both have their own merits. Let's take a look at each of their features.

Inpatient drug and alcohol treatment programs offer the highest level of care possible when it comes to addiction treatment. Patients move into the rehab facility, so they get to enjoy around-the-clock medical supervision. Patients can reach out to staff members whenever they're feeling unwell. Inpatient programs can help ease withdrawal symptoms and cravings. They make it a lot easier for recovering addicts to get clean.

This type of addiction recovery program is most suited for those with a moderate to severe addiction. They're also the best choice possible for those who are at risk of dealing with life-threatening withdrawal symptoms.

For example, those with an alcohol addiction are likely to experience seizures and delirium tremens. These withdrawal symptoms can lead to death. In fact, delirium tremens has a 5% mortality rate even when it is treated.

Most residential inpatient treatment programs take anywhere from 28 to 90 days to complete. Recent studies have shown that longer addiction treatment leads to higher success rates. In this study, patients who completed 30-day treatment programs had a 55% treatment success rate. On the other hand, the success rates soared to 84% for longer addiction recovery programs.

Patients enjoy a variety of therapies and treatment options with an inpatient treatment center. They get the most personalized treatment plans. These plans are catered to their every need.

Outpatient treatment can be separated into many different types. In comparison to residential treatment options, outpatient treatment options offer patients more flexibility. Patients can pick and choose when they would like to receive treatment.

With this type of addiction recovery program, patients are not obligated to stay at the alcohol or drug rehab facility. In fact, they may leave as soon as they finish their treatment.

There are many different types of outpatient treatments. The three most common ones include:

  • Standard outpatient programs. Recovering addicts looking for the most flexibility and freedom will want to take a look at standard outpatient programs. There are no obligations involved with this type of treatment. Patients can receive as much treatment as they like and as little treatment as they like. Most patients will get anywhere from 1 to 8 hours of treatment each week.
  • Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs). The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) defines IOPs as a minimum of 9 hours of treatment each week. In most cases, patients receive a lot more treatment than that.
  • Partial hospitalization programs (PHPs). PHPs are also known as day/night treatment. This type of treatment is just one step down from an inpatient treatment program.

There are many benefits associated with each outpatient treatment facility. Many outpatient rehab centers in Everett will offer several different outpatient programs at once. While each outpatient program offers unique benefits, IOPs are highly recommended. There are many benefits to choosing an IOP.

This type of treatment is most ideal for those who are transitioning out of an inpatient treatment program. Outpatient programs are also a good choice for those struggling with a mild SUD.

There are also quite a few sober living homes in Everett, Washington. These homes are different from addiction treatment. Living at a sober living home will not necessarily mean that you'll receive substance abuse treatment.

Instead, it means that you are choosing to live in an environment that prohibits all types of substances. You'll also be surrounded by recovering addicts, so you'll have people to lean on whenever you experience any cravings.

Sober living homes aren't mandated by the government. They're quite different from halfway homes. Those who choose sober living arrangements are usually not in trouble with the law.

Residents are expected to pay rent when living at a sober living house. They will also pay for all other expenses. This includes utilities and food. Residents basically live independently from one another although they may attend group therapies and meetings from time to time.

Each sober living home will have its own set of house rules. This may include not being able to bring visitors in after a certain time. All sober living homes will require residents to abstain from drugs and alcohol. Those who break the rules will be asked to leave.

About Drug and Alcohol Treatment in the Everett Area

Even though they can be effective, 12-Step meetings are not for everyone. Some people find that they need the structure and support that can only be found by going through professional treatment.

Drug and alcohol rehab is something that everyone with an addiction should at least consider attending. There, they will find that they receive support from groups of their peers and from experts who know how to treat substance abuse problems.

Alcohol and Drug Detox in Everett

Alcohol and drug detox is an essential part of the recovery program in some cases. It addresses the physical aspect of the addiction and helps people get through their withdrawal symptoms. But more than that, some people may find that their withdrawals last a much shorter time.

It is not uncommon for people to assume that they can get through withdrawal on sheer willpower alone. Unfortunately, that is often not enough because those symptoms are what lead to relapses. But by going through the detoxification process, they have a much better chance of successfully quitting and recovering.

Detoxing is not always required, but there are some cases when it is. For example, alcohol detox is required for anyone who is an alcoholic. There are other instances in which it may be required as well, such as for people with heroin addictions or benzodiazepine addictions.

The complications that can come from withdrawal can be life-threatening at times. That is why it is so important to choose a quality detoxification program.

The SAMHSA treatment locator indicates that there are two detox programs right in the City of Everett. They are both inpatient programs, and that is very important.

Anyone who needs to go through detox should never opt for an outpatient program. There are also rapid detox centers, and the treatment they offer can be dangerous.

An inpatient facility gives medical personnel the time to help people detox properly. They will be medically monitored while they are there, and in the event of an emergency, staff can act quickly.

There are four local hospitals that offer detox services within 25 miles of Everett. But these may not be the best choice for someone who is recovering from an addiction.

Hospitals offer the best in medical care, and that goes for detoxification as well. But they usually do not have actual programs. Many times, patients are placed in rooms by themselves as they go through the detox process. They are not able to interact with other patients in any way. They also run the risk of not getting adequate follow-up care.

For these reasons, it is usually better to choose a private program that offers detox services. They tend to offer the best results.

Everett Drug Rehab Programs

Going to drug rehab is the next step after going through detox. Many rehabilitation facilities actually offer both types of care under the same roof.

It is not enough to just get past the withdrawal phase of recovery. Addicts need to invest time in working on the reasons behind their addictions. Once the reason is known, it can be treated. This typically gives the individual a much better chance of being successful.

How Many Drug Rehab Centers are Located in Everett?

There are a total of 17 different drug rehab facilities in the City of Everett. But many people prefer to attend rehab outside their hometown, and that is completely understandable. There are close to 70 of them within a 25-mile radius of the city.

Alcohol Rehab Facilities in the Everett Area

After going through alcohol detox, the next step in recovery is to go to rehab. This step is vital because it is not enough to just stop drinking. People need to understand what led to their addictions in the first place.

Alcohol rehab offers people the chance to work with professionals who understand how to treat alcoholism. They participate in various groups and also benefit from one on one therapy sessions with their therapist.

There are many options available for those who are seeking alcohol rehab in the Everett area. The city itself has 17 programs that offer this type of treatment. There are close to 40 of them within a 15-mile radius of the city.

Recovery Meetings in Everett, Washington

When it comes to addiction recovery, a successful recovery is dependent on the amount of social support that the recovering drug abusers and alcohol abusers get. Those who are isolated from others will often relapse. Their mental health condition will deteriorate.

On the other hand, those who receive a lot of support are much more likely to succeed. They're less likely to give up when things don't work out. They're also more likely to keep on going even if they relapse. Social support from others can prevent relapses.

If you're a recovering addict, make sure that you reach out to your loved ones. If you know someone who is a recovering addict, make sure you address the addiction with him or her.

Even though many recovering substance abusers may open up to those around them, they may still feel vulnerable and isolated. They may feel like others around them don't understand what they're going through.

Fortunately, there are many support groups and recovery meetings in Everett, Washington. By going to one of these support groups once a week, your mental health will improve. You'll also be able to build a relationship with others who have been in similar situations. You'll finally feel like you have people to lean on when times are tough.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in Everett, Washington are a great choice for those looking to beat an alcohol addiction. These support groups follow the same structure as 12 step programs. Members follow 12 steps and traditions to get back on the right track.

These meetings are faith-based, but members don't necessarily have to be religious. They only have to:

  1. Be willing to put their faith in a power greater than themselves
  2. Want to stop drinking completely

Members can consider anything as a power greater than themselves. Many atheists who attend AA meetings in Everett, Washington may consider 'discipline' and 'motivation' to be the greater power.

AA meetings come in two different types: open meetings and closed meetings. Researchers, medical students, mental health counselors and loved ones may attend open meetings. Anyone can share his or her opinions. Closed meetings are created for recovering alcoholics only. This gives recovering alcohol abusers their own space to discuss their concerns and their feelings.

AA isn't only talk therapy. It also involves daily reflections, book studies, step studies and speaker discussions. Members can learn a lot about alcohol addiction and how to beat this chronic disease.

Check out the following AA meetings in Everett. Look for one that can fit your schedule. It's best to develop a routine.

If you're hesitant as to whether you should go to a meeting, check out what others have said about their experience. Remember, there are no obligations involved. If you don't feel like AA is right for you, you don't have to go to another meeting ever again.

Unlike AA meetings in Everett, Narcotics Anonymous meetings are designed solely for recovering drug addicts. These meetings welcome those who have abused any type of drug. Members may also struggle with co-occurring disorders or may have abused more than one drug at a time.

NA meetings in Everett offer the same type of structure. The only difference lies in the topics discussed. NA discusses drug-related topics, while AA discusses alcohol-related topics. Members can be addicted to all types of drugs. Some members are addicted to prescription drugs, like Valium, while others may be addicted to illicit drugs, like cocaine.

Much like with AA meetings, NA meetings are faith-based. Once again, this doesn't necessarily mean that members must be religious. Atheists are welcome to attend as long as they can believe in a power greater than themselves.

These meetings also include book studies, step studies, daily reflections and speaker discussions. Members can learn more about their drug of choice by going to specific NA meetings. For example, there's Cocaine Anonymous (CA) for cocaine users and Heroin Anonymous (HA) for heroin users.

Living with and loving an addict can be incredibly stressful. Addiction affects not just the addict, but also everyone in his or her life. Family members and loved ones are often dragged into the mess as well.

"46% of all Americans know a family member or friend who is addicted to drugs."

If your life has been affected by someone else's addiction, you can consider going to an Al Anon or Alateen meeting. Al Anon meetings in Everett are designed for anyone whose life has been affected. On the other hand, Alateen meetings are for teenagers with alcoholic parents.

These meetings provide members with the tools needed to converse and deal with the drug addict. Members learn how to be assertive and how to watch out for enabling behavior. They learn how they can help. They also learn how to stay happy and healthy despite what the recovering addict chooses to do.

There are plenty of Al Anon and Alateen meetings in Everett, WA. Those who are interested in these meetings can go as frequently or infrequently as they wish. Teens may want to confide in an adult if they're interested in going to an Alateen meeting.

AA meetings and NA meetings in Everett, Washington are not the only support groups available. Those who do not appreciate faith-based meetings can consider science-based meetings. SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) meetings are particularly popular and have attracted a fairly large following.

Some rehabs in Everett may also host their own support groups in the form of an alumni program. These meetings help past members stay sober. Many members are interested in joining an alumni program, so they can stay connected with other patients they may have met while at the treatment facility.

Alcohol and Drug Treatment Options

There are also many private support groups around. You may be able to find these support groups at:

  • Town hall
  • Community centers
  • Research or medical institutes
  • A friend's house

Knowing what to feel blessed about is important. Often times, we may overlook some of the most important features.

What is SMART Recovery?

The Mission at SMART Recovery is as follows:

To empower people to achieve independence from addiction problems with our science-based 4-Point Program.

Group members typically come together and meet once every week. They talk about the struggles they are facing, or have faced, and they get support from one another.

SMART Recovery is not a 12-Step program. Participants work on understanding and changing their beliefs about addiction. They also work on changing their addictive behaviors and emotions during the course of the program.

These groups can be very helpful. Getting peer support is so important, and they have had many people complete the program and then go on to live clean and sober lives.

What to Do for Drug Overdoses and Alcohol Poisoning in Edmonds, WA

One of the scariest things about alcohol abuse or drug abuse is the overdose rates. More than 72,000 Americans died from either a drug overdose or alcohol poisoning in 2017. These numbers don't even include the people that have sustained serious bodily damage from the overdose. It also doesn't include the amount of people who have gone to an emergency department for help.

What to Do for Drug Overdoses and Alcohol Poisoning in Edmonds, WA

When dealing with a drug overdose or alcohol poisoning, you'll first need to determine the type of substances that were taken. Depending on the substances that were taken, different actions can be taken.

With that said, the first thing that anyone should do is call 9-1-1 if they suspect someone of overdosing. Overdose victims need immediate and urgent medical care and attention. If they don't get help in time, they could die.

If the overdose victim loses consciousness, it's best to put them in the recovery position. This position ensures that the overdose victim won't choke and suffocate on his or her vomit. Stay with the overdose victim until help arrives. Make sure to keep them as comfortable as possible.

Other than that, there are also other instructions for dealing with specific overdoses. For example, those who have overdosed prescription opioids, like oxycodone, or illicit opioids, like heroin, should get a naloxone injection. The naloxone will reverse the effects of the opioid. While this prescription medication can be life-saving, its costs are also rising.

Those dealing with a cocaine overdose should consider physically restraining the overdose victim if he or she becomes violent and aggressive.

Depending on the substances abused, the overdose symptoms can vary quite a lot. Those who have taken stimulants may become aggressive. On the other hand, those who have taken depressants may end up with cardiac failure or depression.

Pros and Cons of Going to an inpatient Rehab Center

Pros

  • Around-the-clock supervision. Addiction recovery is not always easy. In fact, patients can expect to experience some pretty intense withdrawal symptoms in the beginning. With around-the-clock supervision, patients can receive the highest quality of care possible. Their treatment plans can be customized at any time to ensure their comfort.
  • Structured environment. Structure is actually very important for a recovering addict. Those who are in a more structured environment will have an opportunity to learn better and healthier habits. They’re also less likely to be exposed to triggers, so they’re less likely to relapse.
  • Access to more behavioral therapies and counseling. To get clean and stay sober, you first need to work on yourself. This involves getting a lot of behavioral therapy and counseling. You’ll need to learn new skills.
  • An opportunity to meet other people. Many substance abusers isolate themselves from others. Residential rehab facilities give these people an opportunity to work on their social skills. Many patients end up developing lifelong friendships with the people that they meet at our facilities.
Cons of Inpatient Rehab

Cons

  • Cost. An inpatient program can cost anywhere from $400 to $900 a day. Also, not everything may be covered by insurance.
  • Inflexibility. You can’t do as you wish with inpatient programs from Northpoint Washington. You’ll need to make the necessary arrangements for your responsibilities and obligations at school, work and home.
