The first 12-step program ever to be created was Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. These meetings were founded in 1935. They revolutionized the addiction industry and led to the emergence of many other 12-step programs, like Narcotics Anonymous (NA). AA meetings are free to join, and anything shared in these meetings will be kept 100% confidential.
Those who are looking to achieve lifelong sobriety should go to at least three meetings a week. Members earn coins and awards for staying sober for certain lengths of time, but the biggest reward is meeting like-minded people who can offer the support needed.

While AA meetings are busy treating alcoholism, Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings treat drug addictions. These meetings are also faith-based, and follow the same twelve steps and principles as AA. Members are asked to put their faith in a power greater than themselves. With that said, NA meetings are not affiliated with any religion. Members can be agnostics, atheists and from any religion in the world.
NA meetings are free to join. They’re also incredibly effective. They use a combination of various addiction treatment services to help drug abusers get their lives back on the right track.

Alateen is a fellowship of teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18 who have to live with an addict. Their lives may be quite different from ‘normal’ teenagers due to the addict. For example, those who have an addicted parent may need to grow up much quicker. They may be responsible for more chores or may need to take care of younger siblings while growing up.
Alateen meetings offer teenagers a safe space for sharing their feelings and getting support from others in similar situations. Much like with all 12-step programs, these meetings are free to join. Alateen meetings are hosted and led by teenagers as well although some meetings may be organized and sponsored by an Al-Anon member.
