Alateen Meetings

Alateen is a fellowship of teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18 who have to live with an addict. Their lives may be quite different from ‘normal’ teenagers due to the addict. For example, those who have an addicted parent may need to grow up much quicker. They may be responsible for more chores or may need to take care of younger siblings while growing up. 

Alateen meetings offer teenagers a safe space for sharing their feelings and getting support from others in similar situations. Much like with all 12-step programs, these meetings are free to join. Alateen meetings are hosted and led by teenagers as well although some meetings may be organized and sponsored by an Al-Anon member.
