Alcohol and Drug Rehab and Addiction Recovery Resources in Northgate, Seattle

If you’re looking for 12-step meetings or a treatment facility in Northgate, Seattle, you will not have to look too far. Apart from the many physical locations, there are many treatment programs and support groups online.

We have spent a significant amount of time gathering addiction recovery resources across the state of Washington. While we may not be affiliated with any of these resources we think it’s important to list them all out. On this page, we’ll go over the options in and around the neighborhood of Northgate in Seattle.

About Northgate, Washington

Drugs and alcohol are killing Seattle residents in record numbers. Our friends, families, and neighbors need help.

Northgate is one of the most scenic neighborhoods in all of Seattle. Named for the mall that inhabits it, the area is among the least populated in the entire city. Despite rising house prices and an above-average crime rate, Northgate is home to hundreds of happy families.

One great aspect of the region is its proximity to addiction rehab resources. Drug addicts and alcoholics in the area have access to a wide variety of detox centers, rehab facilities, and 12-step meetings.

This is crucial, particularly in a time when opioids kill more than 70,000 people every year.

In King County alone, nearly 400 people died of a drug overdose in 2017.

Now more than ever, addicts need access to resources that can help them. By connecting with the right people and facilities, addicts may be able to get treatment before it’s too late.

Drug and Alcohol Detox in Northgate, Washington

Professional detox facilities in Northgate provide addicts with a safe environment where they can withdraw from drugs and alcohol. Although it’s possible for addicts to quit cold turkey, those who detox in a treatment center find it more comfortable.

After all, drug withdrawals are notoriously painful. Addicts experience a range of unpleasant symptoms throughout the detox process. In some cases, it can even be dangerous. Alcohol withdrawals, for example, can be fatal in extreme instances.

By checking into a detox facility in Northgate, addicts are able to withdraw under the supervision of a detox specialist. This is usually a doctor or someone in the medical industry that is an expert in the detox process. The primary goal is to ensure that your detox keeps you safe with all vital signs positive.

A detox team will also take measures to ease your withdrawal symptoms. This makes the process much more pleasant for many addicts. Detox is the first step you should take in addiction recovery. It allows you to get rid of the toxins in the body so you can focus on psychological reasons for your addiction with a clear head. Detox can cost anywhere from very little to thousands of dollars. Your insurance will cover some form of detox so make sure you check with your provider or verify your insurance with us.

Drug and alcohol rehab in Northgate is the next step in recovery once detox has been completed. Now is the time to learn how to live a sober life with the proper tools and the right mindset going forward. You can try to do this process on your own but it makes your journey more challenging. In a sense, you’re walking blindly and uncertain how to deal with any challenges you come up against. This can actually cause unnecessary anxiety.

Most people benefit from attending a professional rehab program. In these programs, you work with therapists and counselors to develop strategies for staying sober.

Therapy is very helpful for recovering addicts. Oftentimes, the roots of addictive behavior lie in past trauma. By overcoming these traumas, the addict is able to move forward in a happier, healthier way.

In addition to therapy, rehab programs in Northgate, Seattle offer a number of other services. Depending on the program, patients often have access to group support networks, exercise facilities, dietitians, cognitive behavioral specialists, and more. These resources are all immensely useful for recovering addicts.

There are dozens of addiction rehab centers in Northgate and surrounding neighborhoods.

Rehab can help you get back on the right track. Learn more at our drug rehab and alcohol rehab service pages. We have outlined details so you know what your choices are for rehab in Northgate, Seattle.

Inpatient rehab programs in Northgate offer you the chance to fully immerse in recovery. You will stay in a residential setting and focus solely on your recovery. There will be a program designed for your needs. Every day, you will do therapy sessions, addiction education, and group therapy sessions. You’ll take part in healthy activities and eat nutritious foods that aid in helping the body recover from substance addiction.

PHP is a program you can take after rehab in Northgate is over. You’ll continue with therapy and stay in sober living with other recovering addicts. These programs can last anywhere from 30 days to 120 days. It depends on your needs. Serious addictions like dual diagnosis, where more than one disorder is occurring, may require further rehabilation. That’s where PHP can help. It isn’t meant to be a replacement for rehab by any means.

There are many different kinds of outpatient programs. They vary in quality and cost. There are government run addiction programs in Northgate. They may be free of charge or cost very little. The quality of treatment isn’t as good as other programs and perhaps offers too much freedom for some. If you’ve already gone through rehab in the past, this is a good option but it might not be intensive enough for someone dealing with recovery for the first time.

There are also Intensive Outpatient Programs in Northgate. These programs still allow you to stay at home but you’re getting high quality treatment like you would through an inpatient program. Your sessions last longer and are more frequent.

It is important for people to know that there are options available to them when it comes to addiction treatment. There are many individuals who may find it challenging to attend a professional rehab program. But they would be able to commit to going to rehab online. Fortunately, because of today’s technology, that is now a possibility.

Video conferencing platforms and telehealth have made online rehab a reality. Many programs offer this service as a way to reach those who are unable to come to treatment in person. It has allowed so many more people to get the help they need because their main barrier to rehab has been removed.

What to Do in Case of Drug Overdose or Alcohol Poisoning in Northgate, Seattle

A drug overdose or alcohol poisoning in Northgate is serious. If you suspect someone is overdosing, consider it an emergency. There are symptoms that indicate if someone has alcohol poisoning or has overdosed from drugs. We will let you know what they are and let you know how you can help in this situation.

With a drug overdose, you may not know what kind of drug they’ve taken. As each drug influences us in different ways, you may not know from side effects alone what they’ve taken. Generally though, stimulants will make someone overactive. Their heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature may rise to dangerous levels during an overdose. Central nervous depressants like opioids will slow the heart down. An overdose may even cause the heart to stop completely.

Whatever type of drug the person has taken, it’s important to get help right away. Call 911 and answer whatever questions they have. You may have to check to see if they’re still breathing and try to examine symptoms. Stay calm and wait for the ambulance to arrive.

Usually when someone has alcohol poisoning, there is a strong smell of alcohol from their breath. This will help you to figure out what’s wrong with them faster than if they were overdosing from drugs. When someone drinks too much alcohol too quickly, the liver may not be able to process it fast enough. This causes too much alcohol to be in the blood which becomes poison to the body. The heart slows down and there is a possibility that the victim will die if they don’t get medical attention immediately.

It’s important to turn the person on their side, even if they’re conscious. They have likely lost their ability to control their motor skills. Call 911 and listen to their instructions until help arrives.

Alcoholics Anonymous

AA, short for Alcoholics Anonymous, is a worldwide organization that helps people in their struggles with alcohol addiction. The organization facilitates support meetings for addicts in nearly every city on Earth. These meetings take place every day of the year. They’re all free.

In these meetings, alcoholics get together to discuss how addiction has impacted their lives. They talk about their mistakes, their regrets, and most importantly, the things they’re doing to change.

The group was founded in 1935 on principles of compassion. Thus, AA meetings are a judgment-free place. No matter what someone has done in their life, the group will listen to their story and offer support. There are no requirements for membership except a strong desire to get better.

Members are free to attend as few or as many meetings as they’d like. Many people go to several meetings each week. Some members go for as long as it takes them to work through the Twelve Steps, while others keep going long after they’ve gotten sober.

There is a strong and vibrant AA community in the Northgate area of Seattle. Anyone who struggles with alcoholism should do themselves a favor and try it out.

SMART Recovery in Northgate, Seattle

Anonymous programs work for many people. However, they don’t work for everyone. After all, there’s no one-size-fits-all cure for addiction.

Some people find that the rigorous structure of the Twelve Steps is too much for them. Others feel that the groups are too spiritual. Some even mistake AA and NA for religious groups because they ask members to find a “higher power”

Fortunately, there are alternatives. The most popular alternative is SMART Recovery.

This program takes a practical, scientific approach to recovery. Instead of taking a spiritual self-inventory as they would in AA, members work to identify their stressors. Once they pinpoint the things that drive them to use, they develop coping mechanisms to help them avoid relapse.

Again, there is no cure for addiction. But, many people find that this program works well for them.

Anyone who is skeptical of the Twelve Steps, or has relapsed in AA or NA, should give this program a shot.

Al-Anon in Northgate, Seattle

Al-Anon is a support group for the family members who are affected by an addict’s condition. This organization welcomes the spouses, parents, children, siblings, and friends of addicted people.

It is difficult to love someone when they have a substance abuse problem. Their condition causes the people around them to feel scared, anxious, guilty, embarrassed, and ashamed. Some people even feel anger toward their addicted loved one. Over time, addiction can have a long-lasting impact on families

The organization holds meetings where family members can go to find the support they need. In these meetings, individuals gather to discuss how their loved one’s condition has affected their lives. The members share their feelings and talk about their experiences. They listen to each other and offer advice.

When you love an addict, it helps to have someone to talk to. Al-Anon meetings give people a place where they can go to deal with this painful situation.

Alateen in Northgate, Seattle

Alateen is a subgroup of Al-Anon. As the name suggests, this group is designed for young people. Children whose parent, sibling or guardian is an addict go to these meetings to get support.

Oftentimes, regular Al-Anon meetings are intimidating for young folks. It can be tough for them to open up to a group of adults, especially if the adults in their life have betrayed their trust. So, these meetings give them the opportunity to share their feelings in a safe environment.

Many Alateen programs are based around education. A facilitator works with the members to teach them why it happens, how it affects the brain, and how it is treated. They also have a group support component where each member talks about their experience.

Most importantly, however, the facilitator makes sure that each member knows that their family member’s condition is not their fault. Every child who grows up with an addict in their life needs to be reminded of this.

How Much Does Addiction Rehab in Northgate Cost?

The cost of alcohol and drug rehab in Northgate depends on a few things. Addiction help is available for everyone now. Programs will vary on their cost based on the amenities, structure, and quality.
