Support Groups and Recovery Meetings in Kenmore, Washington

Outpatient recovery meetings and support groups are an integral part of the recovery process from drug or alcohol addiction. It is difficult to find a more effective solution than the information and atmosphere offered in these group settings. The capability for a struggling addict to open up and receive feedback helps both them and others attending the meeting. There is never any pressure to share, which allows each person to do so organically and at their own pace.

There are many different types of these group meetings available for various scenarios or preferences. Some cater to alcoholics, while others are geared directly towards those with an addiction to drugs. Family and friends can even find solace in the groups designed specifically for their needs and situations.

Millions of people in countries the world over have found the answer to their addiction problem at Alcoholics Anonymous. AA was founded in 1935, with the sole purpose of helping fellow alcoholics overcome their habit, and lead a more healthy and productive life. Their faith-based, 12-step program offers the opportunity for real change, rather than just repeating the same cycles over and over again.

There are several AA meetings held in Kenmore itself. One or more is sure to offer the time and setup perfect for your situation.

All of the listed types of meetings so far have faith at the core of their programs. While a belief in a specific religion or deity is not required, each ultimately teaches the benefits of consigning different areas of life to a higher power. While this is extremely effective for many people, some others may prefer something a little more tangible.

Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART) is a newer program that provides answers with a basis in science. A 4-step program gives participants the skills and tools to help avoid the cravings for many types of addictions. SMART meetings are held in person, and also can be participated in online.

One SMART meeting is located in Bothell, with additional meetings found in nearby Seattle.
