Halcion is a medication that falls into the benzodiazepine classification. It is used as a sedative, and it also has hypnotic qualities. Halcion is most often prescribed for people who have difficulty falling asleep, but it is not a good choice for those who wake up frequently during the night. Ideally, Halcion should only be used for short periods of time. It is very effective, but if dosages are increased, or if it is used for too long, it can be addictive. There are instances in which people will crush and snort Halcion in an attempt to experience euphoria.
Because it is a benzodiazepine, Halcion should never be stopped abruptly. Doing so can result in serious withdrawal symptoms. Halcion rehab is the recommended method of stopping this medication in order to increase the chance of success.
Benzodiazepine drugs such as Halcion carry a lot of risks when they’ve been taken long-term, and even more so when they are abused. Because they are prescribed by a doctor, people tend to think of them as completely safe, or even harmless, and this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Inpatient Halcion rehab is the preferred method of treating this type of addiction for a number of reasons, including:
Halcion treatment programs are often thought to be very expensive, and this is one reason why so few people opt to get professional help for their addictions. The truth is that more and more Halcion treatment programs are striving to be able to work with insurance companies to offer patients the help they need. Insurance companies are now required to provide help in paying for Halcion rehabs, which is an excellent change in healthcare system in our country.
Even so, very few people understand the benefits that are available to them for Halcion addiction treatment. It is not uncommon for it to be covered completely, with no copayments or co-insurance amounts required from patients at all.
Because Halcion works on the central nervous system, and because it is a benzodiazepine, there are withdrawal symptoms that are experienced when the medication is stopped suddenly. These withdrawal symptoms usually start out mild, but then they progress in severity.
It is common to experience:
Like with other drugs in this classification, it is important to remember that the body starts to view Halcion as being necessary for survival when an addiction occurs. For this reason, it’s wise to choose Halcion rehab to aid in the recovery process. Doing so lessens the chance of relapse and it also can reduce the severity of withdrawal symptoms.
