Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Resources in the Sultan, WA Area

For those who live in the Sultan, Washington area, finding drug and alcohol addiction recovery resources should not be a problem. Some will need to go through detox and rehab, but that is not the right option for everyone. Others will feel more at ease with attending 12-Step support groups instead.

Organizations like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous have been instrumental in the lives of millions of people. Also, families can find support through Al-Anon and Alateen.

We are not affiliated with these programs in any way, but we believe in their purposes. In the event that anyone is searching for meetings, we have included them in our addiction recovery resource guide for the Sultan area.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous is an organization that was founded in 1935 by two men who wanted to help people recover. Since that time, it has grown into a program that has benefited millions of people all over the world.

Support and Help for Hurting Families, Teens and Loved Ones

When a loved one is battling an addiction, or in recovery, the family bears most of the weight of it. Quite often, they do not know where to turn to get help. As a result, many people end up suffering from mental health issues, and they do not know how to support their loved one.

Both Al-Anon and Alateen meetings can help with that. They offer places for families to come and learn more about addiction, how to cope, and how to take care of themselves. There are several of these meetings that take place in the Sultan area every week.

Sultan, WA Treatment Options for Addiction and Alcoholism

Is Professional Addiction Treatment Right For You?

It is understandable that a lot of people might hesitate about getting professional help for their addictions. But it might be the best option if a person:

  • Has tried to quit in the past before and failed.
  • Has been an addict for a long period of time.
  • Has been encouraged to go to rehab by friends and family.
  • Have suffered significant losses in their lives because of drugs or alcohol.
  • Have a desire to quit, but do not feel that they can.

The right drug and alcohol rehab program will address every part of the addiction – both the physical and psychological aspects.

While some addictions might not require drug rehab, for others, it is highly encouraged. A quality treatment program will include both detox and rehabilitation programs. That way, the person will get help with their withdrawal symptoms because of medical detox. Also, once that has been completed, they can move on to rehab.

It is absolutely essential to treat the cause of the addiction. For many people, that means getting help for a co-occurring disorder, such as depression or anxiety. Treating the root cause will help to prevent the individual from relapsing in the future.

Many people believe that they can just stop drinking and their lives will go back to normal. Unfortunately that is not the way it works. A good alcohol treatment program is needed in order for a person to stop drinking successfully and safely, in most cases.

It is important to mention the need for alcohol detox as well. Most people do not realize that withdrawals can be dangerous for alcoholics. They can easily lead to delirium tremens, which is a potentially fatal condition if left untreated. Afterwards, patients should attend drug rehab to work on healing from the cause of their addictions.
