While this place has a lot of cultural influence, it is also, unfortunately, a hub for drug trafficking. In November 2018, SPD’s Major Crimes Taskforce (MCTF) seized a bunch of drugs and cash from two major drug traffickers in the area. These drug traffickers mostly sold crack cocaine and heroin. Both of these drugs are incredibly addictive and can do a tremendous amount of damage on the body.
With easy access to drugs and alcohol, it’s no wonder why many residents in this area get hooked on various substances. Those who are struggling with addiction should consider looking for professional help. The good news is that there are many addiction resources in International District, Seattle, WA.
It can be difficult to recover without professional help. Only about 10% of alcoholics and addicts ever get any professional addiction treatment. Those who choose to attempt recovery alone are not likely to succeed. They’ll likely experience intense withdrawal symptoms and may face other complications and difficulties during their recovery.
A comprehensive drug and alcohol detox and rehab program will include addiction treatment services like medical detox and behavioral therapies. These services are critical to a successful recovery. While all rehab programs will offer similar services, the level of care that each program can provide will vary. Pick from two different levels of care:
Residents of International District won’t find any inpatient or outpatient treatment centers directly in this neighborhood. With that said, there are over 15 options in nearby neighborhoods and area.
A solid relapse prevention plan will include some type of recovery meeting and support group. Going to these meetings at least once a week can keep recovering addicts not only sober, but also motivated to stay clean. Members find a shoulder to lean on at these meetings and a sympathetic ear that understands where they’re coming from.
Drinking is often seen as an acceptable activity in our social lives, but many Americans are going overboard and developing a substance use disorder (SUD). Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a mutual support group that can help these individuals get the support that they need. This faith-based, international fellowship is for anyone whose life has been affected by alcohol. It’s a type of 12-step treatment.

One of the main reasons why many substance abusers never reach out for help is because they’re afraid of what other people might think. To get better, don’t be afraid to admit that you have a problem. You should never be ashamed of getting help. In fact, you should be proud of yourself for actively trying to treat your alcohol or drug abuse problem.
Northpoint Washington can individually tailor drug addiction treatment programs and alcohol addiction treatment programs to the needs of each client. We fully understand that everyone needs something different to succeed in their recovery.
Our admissions coordinators are here to help you get started with treatment the right way. They'll verify your health insurance, help set up travel arrangements, and make sure your transition into treatment is smooth and hassle-free.
