Drug and Alcohol Detox in Mukilteo, WA

Some of the most valuable addiction resources in the area are the drug detox centers. These facilities aid in the recovery process by helping addicts go through withdrawals.

Usually, drug and alcohol withdrawal symptoms are pretty painful. They can even be dangerous in some cases. So, medical detox centers help addicts to stay comfortable and safe when they first quit using. The facilities provide medication and ensure that the addict is hydrated, which is very important for a successful detox.

If you want to get sober, you have to detox first. The best place to go through this process is under a doctor’s supervision at a professional detox facility.

Don’t let expenses prohibit you from getting sober. Click here to see if your insurance provider will cover the cost of treatment.

The rehab programs in Mukilteo are also very helpful for recovering addicts. These programs provide therapy and counseling for people who’ve recently gotten sober.

The most difficult part of getting sober is transitioning from life as an addict to life as a drug-free person. Many people can’t make this jump on their own. It requires patience, focus, and the strength to manage cravings and triggers.

Rehab equips people with these tools. In rehab, addicts work with counselors to learn relapse prevention techniques that can help them stay sober. They also go to therapy sessions where they try to work through any trauma that might be at the root of their habit. For a lot of people, it’s nearly impossible to successfully get sober without rehab treatment.

Some of the best rehab programs in Washington State are within a driving distance of Mukilteo. You should find one near you if you want to quit drugs or alcohol.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Some of the best AA meetings in Washington State happen in Mukilteo

AA, or Alcoholics Anonymous, is a popular support group for alcohol addicts. This organization holds meetings all over the world. Meetings are free to attend and take place every single day of the year. Almost all of them are open to the public.

In AA, addicts get together to talk about how alcohol impacted their life. They share stories and open up about their regrets. They talk about their efforts to get better and encourage one another. Meetings are full of all kinds of people. Some are just getting sober and others have been sober for years.

This group is based around a famous program called “The Twelve Steps”. The Steps are a system, designed by AA’s founder Bill W., that helps people get sober. In the organization’s 75-year history, it’s helped thousands and thousands of alcoholics get sober.

If you can’t stop drinking and it’s causing problems for you, an AA meeting could be just what you need.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous, or “NA” for short, is another global support network. Although the two groups aren’t affiliated, this one is very similar to Alcoholics Anonymous. However, while AA helps alcoholics to stop drinking, this one helps drug addicts get clean.

Everyone is allowed in NA no matter what their drug of choice happens to be. Some members are heroin addicts. Others abuse cocaine. Some are crystal meth addicts, prescription pill abusers, or marijuana smokers. The group doesn’t care what drugs a person uses. They only care that the person has a desire to stop.

NA meetings work similarly to AA meetings. Members get together and talk about their addictions. The update each other about the progress of their recovery. They encourage each other and all work through the Twelve Steps together.

For many people, this is one of the most valuable addiction resources. If you’re struggling with a drug addiction, it may be helpful for you.

Mukilteo, WA Treatment Options for Addiction and Alcoholism

SMART Recovery

SMART Recovery is one example of a support group that does not use the Twelve Steps. Although the Steps are valuable for many, they don’t work for everyone.

Some people are turned off of the Steps because of the quasi-spiritual language that they use. This system asks members to find a “higher power”, which many people find too religious for their liking.

That’s okay. There are plenty of other options. SMART is one popular alternative to AA and NA. This program offers help and support for addicts. But, it avoids all of the semi-religious discussion that happens in other meetings.

If you find that AA or NA don’t quite work for you, this could be something to try. You might find that it helps you overcome your drinking or drug habits.

There’s one popular meeting that happens weekly at the Seattle Public Library. Here are the details:

Thursdays @6:00 PM
Seattle SMART

Al-Anon

Most addiction resources are designed to help addicts get (and stay) sober. But, there are also resources for the family members of addicts. These people need help and support, too.

if you’ve ever loved an addict, you know that it’s a painful situation. Having a spouse, parent, child, or sibling who is dependent on drugs is difficult. In most cases, their habit bleeds over into our lives and causes problems for us just as much as them.

Luckily, there are places to get help for these problems. Al-Anon meetings provide a place where you can go to meet other people who’ve experienced the same situation. In these meetings, family members get together to help each other manage the stress of loving an addict. They give each other advice and help each other to stay safe and sane.

If an addict’s habit is becoming a burden on your life, you may want to check out a meeting. The group’s members will be happy to help you however they can.

There’s a very strong Al-Anon community in town. Here’s the meeting info:

Mondays @7:00 PM
New Freedom Monday Night AFG
Mukilteo Presbyterian Church
4514 84th Street Southwest
Mukilteo, WA 98275

Nar-Anon

Nar-Anon is similar to Al-Anon. However, this group is specifically designed for the family members of narcotics addicts. Al-Anon, on the other hand, was initially designed for the family members of alcoholics.

Please note: Both Al-Anon and Nar-Anon are all-inclusive organizations. If you are unable to make it to one or the other, you are welcome in either group. The members don’t necessarily care what substance your loved one uses. The important part is not which meeting you attend, but the fact that you seek help in the first place.

Do you want to talk to others who’ve lived through the experience of loving a drug addict? Here’s a meeting where you can do so:

Tuesdays @7:00 PM
South Whidbey Nar-Anon
St. Peter’s Lutheran Church
6309 South Wilson Place
Clinton, WA 98236

Alateen

Alateen is very similar to Al-Anon and Nar-Anon. But, this group is designed for children and teenagers.

Oftentimes, it’s very hard for parents and guardians to talk to kids about addiction. So, Alateen does the work for you.

In Alateen meetings, kids meet as a group with a meeting facilitator. The facilitator helps to educate them about what addiction is and why it happens. On top of that, the kids take turns talking about their feelings and opening up about their experiences. For some kids, this is the only place that they can feel safe to talk.

If you know a child whose life is being affected by a family member’s addiction, you may want to bring them to this meeting:
