While ranked as one of the wealthiest cities in the state, these diseases still find a way to take hold and grow if left unchecked. Even the most well-to-do areas have been unable to shield themselves from a problem that has gripped our country with increasing severity as each year passes by.
Fortunately, the recent upsurge in cases of addiction have had a positive side effect. Government and scientific bodies understand the cost of untreated addiction is high, so the number of treatment options has never been higher. Opioids are at the forefront of the public eye, and public and private organizations are scrambling to find ways to combat this menace. While there is no cure for the disease of addiction, managing it is something eminently possible for anyone with the right type of treatment options.
Finding the best treatment option on your own can be difficult. It can easily cause you to feel overwhelmed when presented with the need to understand and locate what you need to make sobriety work. We understand this, and have created a guide with much of the information you will need all in one place. Removing this hurdle can do away with one more thing that could stand in the way of you actually seeking help.
Northpoint Washington is located less than 20 miles away from Clyde Hill in the city of Edmonds. This short drive will bring you to a facility whose sole goal is to find the perfect way to get you clean and sober. Our program is tailor-made to your needs, and covers both the detox and rehab phases of your recovery. For 28 days, we will fill your days with the activities and therapies required to make getting sober easier and longer lasting. Many of our staff are recovering addicts and alcoholics themselves, so they know what you are going through and how best to help you.
It is a widely accepted fact that there is currently no permanent treatment or cure for drug or alcohol addiction. While a good drug or alcohol detox or rehab program can start you along the way, the struggle does not just end once it is completed. Constant care and attention is needed to make sure you avoid relapse, and live your life with your addiction without letting it gain control.
The best way to get this care and attention is to find some support groups or recovery meetings in your local area. In these groups, fellow alcoholics and addicts gather together to share their stories, as well as difficult times they may be going through. Other members can provide feedback, or just listen to what everyone else has to say. These meetings are free of judgment, and provide a comfortable enough atmosphere that no one should feel embarrassed by what they want to share.
Most of these programs center around 12 steps, which address different areas of life that need resolution for maintaining your sobriety successfully. The programs generally have faith at their core, and get to the root of the problem, rather than just the outlying symptoms. These types of meetings and groups are also available to the loved ones of those suffering with an addiction.
An alcoholic looking for ongoing, outpatient support for their disease is likely to get the most use out of attending an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting. No matter what type of belief system you have, or what you put your faith in, AA is ready and willing to accept you with open arms. The only precondition to attending an AA meeting is a sincere and determined conviction to staying free from the clutches of alcoholism.

If you find yourself fresh out of drug detox and rehab, it is important to locate ongoing support as quickly as possible. Even a few days without this support can lead to the destruction of all your hard work, and see you back in the clutches of whichever substance you are addicted to. Fortunately, this support is not hard to find no matter where in the country you may be.
Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is definitely the most prominent name when it comes to this ongoing support for addicts. NA's 12-step program sheds light on which areas you need to work on the most to maintain your sobriety. Just knowing which way you need to go, and having a multitude of people there to help you, increases the chances for successful abstinence tenfold.

If you have an alcoholic friend or family member, it can feel at times like you are struggling as much as your addicted loved one is. It is common for resentment to arise, given that these struggles come as no fault of your own. This can multiply exponentially if you feel your own life suffers as a result. No matter how much you love someone, trying to deal with these issues alone can potentially lead to the destruction of your relationship.
To avoid this tragedy, loved ones of an alcoholic should consider attending an Al-Anon meeting. Al-Anon meetings are made up of people who know and love an alcoholic, and are determined to find the best way to live with them and their disease. No matter what other support resources you have available to you, having the closeness and understanding of someone going through the same thing as you are is invaluable.

Most drug addicts out there have someone who cares about them. Most of the time, these loved ones have a more difficult time dealing with life than those without an addicted charge. Trying to help their friend or family member stay away from using, as well as juggle their own responsibilities and desires, makes for a trying time in even the best of circumstances.
To bolster the energy and patience you have available, it is wise to seek out a Nar Anon meeting. Nar Anon's 12-step program is rife with helpful tips and guidance designed to smooth out many of the rougher patches. With Nar Anon, you never have to feel trapped and alone by your circumstances ever again.

Many times, it can feel unfair to a young person that they have to deal with someone with an alcohol addiction. Life is harder, and many of the things other children can enjoy may be lacking. Without the life experience an adult has accumulated, teens and young adults may not realize how dangerous it can be to internalize the pain, rather than let it out safely. For situations like these, Alateen is the best answer.
Alateen meetings are held separate from those of their parent organization, Al-Anon. Alateen understands how difficult it can be for young people to open up with parents or other adults present, so only kids can attend. This forms a safe space that makes it possible for them to share their feelings without threat of criticism or reprisal.

Not all people with an addiction have been able to find the perfect ongoing support through programs like AA or NA. These programs require some form of belief in a higher power, without which the 12-step program just doesn't work. With Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART) there is no need for faith, since everything has its basis in science. Advances in the science behind addiction recovery has revealed tools and instruction perfect no matter what type of behavior or substance you are addicted to.
