Brier, Washington Addiction Resource Guide

Brier, Washington Addiction Resource Guide

Over the past few decades, the problems of drug and alcohol addiction have steadily risen in the city of Brier. One of the biggest hindrances to reversing this trend is that many addicts and alcoholics simply do not know how to go about getting treatment. Figuring out where to turn for treatment can seem very daunting, and virtually impossible to do on your own. No matter how strong the desire is to quit, without knowing how to turn this desire into reality, sobriety will never be achieved.

The basic process for kicking either drugs or alcohol is pretty much the same. Your journey starts with detox, an inpatient program that allows your body to wean itself off of whatever you are addicted to. It is important to have the help and support of a detox program, since going it alone can be dangerous or lead to immediate relapse. Rehab comes next and allows you to begin addressing the mental and emotional aspects of your disease. Once you have a firm handle on your addiction, you can keep yourself sober with the many support groups available at no cost.

In order to make sure you don't have to hunt down all of this information by yourself, we have put together a resource guide with info on addiction support groups in and around Breir.

Support Groups and Recovery Meetings in Brier, Washington

Addiction is an ongoing disease, and a permanent cure for it is impossible to attain. This makes it necessary to continue your treatment, even after successful completion of detox and rehab. These programs are crucial, but are only meant to assist you with the beginning stages of your quest for sobriety. Many an addict or alcoholic has fallen off the path to abstinence when proper therapy wasn't continued once the structured programs had run their course.

This makes the different support and recovery groups and meetings such an important part of staying the course to freedom from drugs and alcohol. Most of these meetings and groups offer a 12-step program that centers around personal faith. Each step is meant to build on the one before it, and each participant can take their time achieving mastery of each step. Everyone goes at their own pace, which keeps addicts from becoming frustrated or discouraged. Loved ones of alcoholics and addicts can also find solace in meetings designed especially for them and their situation.

Most alcoholics find the solace and ongoing support they need at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, or AA. AA goes beyond the obvious symptoms of the disease and to the root of the problem, for more effective and longer-lasting success. A 12-step program lies at the core of what they offer, which is combined with a group-type meeting format. Rather than just listen to someone try and teach them how to get sober, fellow alcoholics can share their own experiences and lessons among themselves. It is always easier to accept help and advice from someone who truly has been where you are.

While there are no AA meetings directly in Brier, they are plentiful throughout Snohomish County.

Drug addicts face challenges that are many times different than those experienced by alcoholics. This means that rather than go to an AA meeting, addicts should seek out a Narcotics Anonymous meeting, or NA. At NA, you will find a program that is geared towards these unique challenges, and covers every aspect of what a drug addict needs to keep from using. No matter what type of substance you currently abuse, NA is bound to be able to help you quit.

One of the most vulnerable groups of people when it comes to alcoholism is the teen friends or family members of the alcoholic. Without any substantial life experience to draw on, teens and young adults can quickly be overcome with the added hardships that come from loving an alcoholic. Alateen is a division of Al-Anon, where all meetings are made up of young people dealing with this type of crisis. Having the friendship and camaraderie of other kids who know how life is treating you can help turn an untenable situation into one much easier to deal with.
